DONG Energy (Dansk Olie og Naturgas AS)
is one of Northern
Europe´s leading energy groups, basing
it´s business on producing,
distributing, and trading energy.
Primary focus is deep drilling and power
production. DONG Energy´s
core areas of oil and gas exploration
and production is in the
southern part of the Norwegian North Sea
and the Danish part of
the North Sea, west of the Shetlands and
in the Fareoes, and in
mid Norway (gas production at Ormen
Lange).
DONG Energy is the biggest power
producer in Denmark with market
shares of 49% on electricity
production, and 35% on heat production.
It also owns power production
facilities and projects in Germany,
Sweden, Norway, and the United
Kingdom. In the UK Dong Energy
operates and constructs offshore
windfarms, In Norway DONG
Energy has invested in hydro and
wind power.
Since the merger of six Danish
enterprizes to form DONG Energy
in 2006, the company has strengthened
it´s position as a major
and responsible energy supplier in
Europe, taking leading positions
within the areas of reducing climate gas
emissions, as well as
supporting the development wind power, and mass
introduction of
electric cars. As a member of the United Nations Global
Compact,
a voluntary corporate responsibility initiative,
DONG Energy
continuously work to integrate positive principles
relating to the
environment, human rights, labour standards, and
anti-corruption.
On 17 Sept 2009 DONG Energy opened the
world´s largest
offshore wind farm, Horns Rev 2.
